On 24 September, Polish Permanent Representation to the EU hosted the third debate in the “EU Budget Talk” series. About 100 guests gathered in Brussels, representing EU institutions and member states, companies, non-governmental organizations, and the media, to talk about digital challenges, research, and innovation.

Chief Innovation Officer at DAC.digital, Mateusz Bonecki, PhD presented Productive4.0 as an example of a project financed by ECSEL Joint Undertaking, where over 100 partners, including DAC, develop technologies to digitize European industry. Our company focus is an IoT-fed data space to enable collaborative product lifecycle and supply chain management.

Joint Undertakings are industry-driven initiatives, which provide financing for large-scale, ecosystem-like, collaborative R&D projects. They create a great environment for open innovation and should be continued under Horizon Europe” – concluded Mateusz Bonecki.

Participants and experts, including Muriel Attané from European Association of Research and Technology Organisations, Luukas K. Ilves from the Lisbon Council, and Adam Piotrowski from VIGO System, discussed how experiences from previous financial perspectives could be used in the new digital and R&I programs and how can we ensure complementarity between Horizon Europe, Digital Europe Programme and other instruments touching upon digital, research and innovation. The discussion has been moderated by Mehreen Khan, Financial Times correspondent in Brussels.

“EU Budget Talk” is a series of debates organized by the Polish Permanent Representation to the EU, devoted to various areas of the future Multiannual Financial Framework – the EU long-term budget – after 2020.
